Electronics And Communication Engineering

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering aims to produce qualified and dynamic engineers in the fast changing area of Electronics Communication Engineering. The Department has sophisticated and modern laboratory equipment and software for research and development work in the areas of Digital Signal Processing, Neural Networks and different soft computing techniques. The Department has trained faculty from reputed Institutes of India. The students have been placed in different national and multinational companies. The Department is modern, with software based practical classes through ORCAD and MATLAB platforms from the first year. The Department has its own library, along with the main library, to facilitate the students specialising in a particular stream. Tutorial classes are also given in the evening from the start of semesters.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering

The Department is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, computing facility with 10 MBPS LAN connectivity machines installed with software like MATLAB and ORCAD for providing an environment conducive to learning and research. The Department consists of wings such as a Basic Electrical Engineering Lab, Network Device Lab, Power Electronics Lab and Control & Simulation Lab. It takes pride in its well qualified faculty members with IIT and NIT backgrounds, who, apart from teaching, are also actively involved in research and consultancy to further enhance the knowledge bank in the relevant fields of work. In addition, efforts have been initiated for industries linked education by way of regular industrial visits. This is aimed at alleviating the “Industry Ignorance Level” of students.

Computer Sciences And Engineering

The Department infrastructure includes state-of-theart laboratories, well-equipped with computer presentation tools and equipment, large screen projectors and with accommodation for multiple computer platforms. In addition, there is a common computer laboratory in the building, which houses a set of Windows workstations.

The Department has highly qualified faculty members. The curriculum places equal emphasis on theory, practice and experimental Computer Science and Engineering, ranging across the entire spectrum of Computer Science. The teachers are encouraged to carry out Research and Development activities and some pursue higher studies including Ph.Ds. The Department of Computer Science & Engineering has been certified by CISCO as the Early Adopter for its new course (CCNA V4.0) curriculum. The Department has also established the Pearson VUE Authorised Test Centre for Global Certification Tests.

Seminars on different advanced areas of Computer Science are conducted by corporate professionals and research guides from across the globe. We have Sun Club and IBM COE (Centre of Excellence) to expose the students to advanced technology; and to prepare them for corporate work. We are looking forward to opening Students’ Chapters with IEEE and ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education).

Information Technology

The Department was established in the year 2008, as a response to the demand for professionals in the booming IT sector. There are a number of networked laboratories equipped with the latest computers. To remain in sync with the emerging technology, the Department conducts seminars on topics such as Data Mi n i n g a nd Da t a Wa re hou s i n g , Mob i l e Communication, Geographic Information System, Bio Informatics, Artificial Intelligence.

To facilitate the students to make LINUX as the standard platform for their works, a LINUX CLUB was created where students and faculty meet to exchange their ideas on this operating system. All faculty members and a good number of students have registered themselves with OITS (Odisha IT Society). The society conducts regular workshops, seminars and Olympiad tests to refine the IT skills of students. The School / Dept. has a strong intranet interface with AIS software to bring about various academic works easily. The campus has initiated a training programme on Sun Certified Programme for Core Java and Advanced Java.

The Department of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering was established in the year 1999. The laboratories of the Department have been designed keeping in mind the ever changing technological advancements and the dynamic nature of the industry. The Department motivates the faculty and the students for research oriented programs, to compete in the new industrial resurgence. The Department also provides Lab View Software for advance analysis / simulation / designing.

Civil Engineering

The Departmental activities embrace Planning, Design, Construction and Management. The Department strives to stay on the edge of technological development and dissemination, local and regional capacity building through networking and resource sharing. The Department with its multifaceted faculty, continues to cultivate and maintain its strong links with the infrastructure industry, academic and research institutions in India and abroad. Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has strategic alliances with companies like NALCO, HAL, VEDANTA & JINDAL other than CTTC, CIPET, IIW & NSIC to provide superior theoretical and practical training. Besides, the Department has also provided Pro E and Ansys software in its labs. The mission of the Department is to establish itself as a centre of excellence in the field of Mechanical Engineering, through innovative teaching-learning methods, intensive CAD/CAM short term programs, INSTITUTEINDUSTRY partnerships, and projects on Mechanical Engineering, appropriate technology, social development and research.

Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1997. The faculty members in the Department are highly qualified and experienced. The Department has state of the art laboratories with modern facilities of Fuel Technology, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Mass Transfer Operations, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Process Instrumentation and Control, Process Modelling, Simulation and CAD.

The design and selection of equipment is not only for conducting experiments but also for the project work of the final year. Keeping in view the demand in the steel industry in India, the Department of Chemical Engineering has organised a Workshop on “Power Technology in Modern Steel Making” at JITM.

The Department of Basic Science and Humanities consolidates science, technology and life skills in our institute. The Department consists of a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members who have tremendous potential to shape the attitude, habits, innate talents and personalities of students and transform them into professionals.

Well-equipped labs, academic achievements, seminars and projects on environment and economics add to the Department's laurels. Given the importance of English as the global language for business communication, the Department lays utmost emphasis on communication skills of students. The Digital Multimedia Language Lab is an added attraction in the Department, where spoken English, BPO Language Skills and capacity building courses add value to the ongoing process of career building. Our aim is to take care of all dimensions of learning, to achieve academic excellence as regards student performance.
