Message From The Managing Trustee of the Trust & Vice-President

Dear Students,

Let me welcome you all to the Centurion family. We are happy to have you here in our University. You will have the proud privilege of being the first batch to have taken admission in Centurion. Even though the University has been established only this year, its constituent college, JITM, Parlakhemundi has more than 14 years of existence. The other constituent college, CIT, Jatni is also three years old. The University has plans to expand to other areas of Odisha like Rayagada and Bolangir. In the next decade or so, it will try to expand its reach to Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and other Eastern States.

It is pertinent perhaps to outline as to how this university tries to differentiate itself from others. Quality teaching learning processes, research, and faculty quality is definitely the bedrock of any institution of learning. The emphasis on the above will ultimately reflect on the culture, values and the quality of the students and the alumni. However, unfortunately, all world class institutions have very big walls built around them. The contrast is even more glaring in a developing country like India. In a way, this university signifies the growth and equity debate in the Indian economy. Why should we have institutes of excellence surrounded by abject poverty and social neglect? How can the institutions bridge this divide? Centurion emerges out of our deep belief that institutions can become local economic and social development hubs. Institutions headquartered in places like Parlakehmundi must find ways and means of integrating the community around them. It is out of this deep desire, Gram Tarang was born. Gram Tarang is the community and local interface of this university. We encourage all our students to get into serious engagement with their environment through this vehicle. Gram Tarang is the difference, the differentiation and the cause which Centurion espouses. We encourage our students to become relevant to Bharat while excelling in India. Centurion is the India deep inside Bharat. Enjoy your stay and enrich yourself and the surroundings.
